  • Master of Architecture

Sophie Tanghe, an Architectural Graduate at VIA, brings her fresh perspective and dedication to the studio. Originally from Belgium, Sophie holds a Master of Architecture from the Catholic University of Leuven in Ghent.

Sophie knew from age 16 that architecture was her calling—not a decision, but something she felt she was meant to do. She gained valuable experience working with various architecture and interior design firms in Belgium, where she further developed her enthusiasm for architecture’s ability to serve as a backdrop for new connections, ideas and memories, representing both the future and the past.

Since making the move to Melbourne and joining VIA, Sophie has enjoyed working on projects that connect people of all ages and backgrounds. In the seniors living space, she is passionate about projects that support older people in remaining integrated into the community, reflecting her thesis on the role architecture plays in addressing the challenges of Alzheimer’s disease.

Outside of her professional life, Sophie likes to stay active and enjoys running, swimming, and cycling. She also has musical talents, where she sings and plays the guitar. In fact, back in Belgium, Sophie often performed during wedding ceremonies.
