Lysterfield Seniors Living
Spectacular northern views for Japara, setting a new benchmark in aged care design
This brand new 93-bed seniors living concept received planning approval in a landmark VCAT decision, representing a new benchmark in leveraging new aged care legislation to maximise design outcomes.
Sitting on a sloping site with beautiful northern aspect and views across Lysterfield, the project has been designed to deliver on light and views, in the context of significant level challenges. From a single level facility at the entry façade, to a three-level facility on the north line of the site, the resultant design encompasses key angled and butterfly roofs as feature elements.
High level glazing ensures light opportunities are maximised, whilst also providing visual connections to the landscape outside from shared areas and communal spaces.
A natural material palette incorporating neutral tones with timbers & stones has been chosen to tie in with the bushland feel of the area and ensure the new building sits comfortably within its considered landscape.
