St Augustine’s Student Centre
The new Senior Student Centre for St Augustine’s College is a standalone, state of the art facility designed to suit an ever-evolving student population.
Following an intensive and collaborative briefing process with the College leadership team, the design was developed as a feature-laden symphony of form, texture, colour, reflective of the College’s maxin “Tolle Lege – Take and Read”, which is immortalized in glazed brickwork facing the courtyard.
A stylized heart and flame concludes a procession of geometric forms across the northern façade. The plan itself is generated by a cracked earth motif symbolizing the harshness of life in Australia’s drought prone rural communities. The Centre contains a number of ESD principles including rain water harvesting and passive solar design.
