St Augustine’s Sports Centre
CUTTING EDGE SPORTS AMENITIES WITHIN HISTORIC GROUNDS
The studio team worked in collaboration with the Jovaras Westland Partnership of Wodonga, to deliver this cutting edge sports facility to sit alongside the historic buildings and new additions to the school. As one of eight Catholic Primary School Projects under the BER funded programme, St Augustines was designed with durability and economical material selections in mind.
Encompassing a new multi-purpose hall, and competition standard netball and basketball courts, the building is clad in a light corrugated sheet metal, presenting a striking singular canvas. A playful and colourful entrance to the building dually guides way finding, and provides a visual break to the striking facade.
The south face of the large volume building responds to the historical church and presbytery. The overall form, entry canopy and north face featuring rainwater storage tanks, an important sustainability addition to the growing school.
