Bali Bound // VIA Appointed Two International Projects
Building on our studio’s solid grounding in Australia, VIA Architects has been selected to design two new projects in Bali, Indonesia. These appointments highlight our reputation for delivering high-quality, human-centric architecture and reflect the international recognition our work has received.
Our existing national portfolio spans residential, commercial, seniors living, hospitality, healthcare, data centres and education sectors. These opportunities in Bali represent an extension of our design principles, applied in a new cultural context.
“We are honoured that our work has gained international recognition, leading to these design opportunities in Bali,” says our Managing Director, Frank Bambino. “The project appointments represent a continuation of our commitment to considered design across Australia that engages with diverse cultures and communities.”
Tranquil seniors living in Denpasar
The first of the two projects is an assisted living facility for seniors in Denpasar (pictured), a region with a rich cultural heritage and a vibrant city atmosphere. The new development will offer a supportive and comfortable environment for its senior residents, blending the serene beauty of Bali with the functional needs of an ageing population.
The facility is set to become a leading example of seniors living in the region, establishing new standards of care in Indonesia. Our design concept focuses on creating nurturing, tranquil spaces that encourage active lifestyles while ensuring the comfort and safety of future residents.
A retreat for wellness seekers
The second project, the Sanyas Health and Wellness Retreat in the Tabanan region, is a unique facility that caters to day-trippers, short-term stays and retirees seeking a holistic wellness experience. This retreat will offer luxurious accommodations and state-of-the-art wellness facilities, all set against the backdrop of Bali’s stunning natural landscapes.
By integrating elements of traditional Balinese architecture with contemporary design, the retreat will provide a tranquil environment that promotes relaxation and rejuvenation.
“These projects demonstrate VIA’s ability to deliver designs that enhance quality of life, regardless of location,” Frank noted. “We’re excited to collaborate with our client to bring these visions to life and contribute to Bali’s architectural landscape.”
Broadened horizons, local commitment
These Bali ventures represent a significant milestone for VIA, showcasing an ability to apply our architectural expertise beyond Australia while staying true to the studio’s mission and core values.
“Our focus remains on delivering designs that resonate deeply with the communities they inhabit,” Frank highlighted. “These projects in Bali allow us to extend that commitment in a new and exciting context, while remaining deeply committed to our local clients, partners and projects across Australia.”
